Jenson Button targets wins
McLaren’s Jenson Button is aiming to win all six remaining races this season – despite conceding his fight for the title is now over. The 2009 champion is 117 points behind Red Bull’s championship leader Sebastian Vettel with 150 up for grabs. Asked if the title had now gone, Button said: “There’s no chance. It won’t change anything though.
“You still want to win every race. That doesn’t suddenly change because there’s no championship to win.”
While reflecting on his second place in Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix, Button joined Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber of Red Bull in agreeing they are now fighting for second place in the championship. McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, who is fifth in the standings, is the only challenger yet to concede the title to defending champion Vettel.
